Explore the art of the “handmade” 35mm slide in this hands-on workshop, designed for media and artmakers at all skill levels. Take your collage, painting, drawing, and multi-media experimentation to another level by working directly on the small surface of the slide, then magnifying and illuminating it with the light of a 35mm projector. Instructor Mary Lewandowski will demonstrate techniques and examples of handmade slides, and participants will spend the day creating their own series of original compositions. The workshop concludes with a live presentation of participant work shown on 35mm slide projectors. Instructor Mary Lewandowski is an artist working in performance, projection, film and multimedia installation. She is a projectionist at VSW and the Dryden Theater and the Curatorial & Research Assistant at Visual Studies Workshop.
